Huntington, Atlanta, Huntington

So, in another week or so of our crazy lives, we continue to be busy and I have a lot of posting to catch up on. Nick, Sam, the dogs and I drove down to Atlanta on May 7th. We ate dinner and Nick and I went to the GT graduation to cheer on my friend Diann. It was also a great commencement speech by the energy secretary, Dr. Chu. On Saturday, Nick and I went to a brunch for Diann and the we had a nice afternoon and all went to Boston Market. That evening I did not feel so well, and I ended up throwing up all night. When I could not take it any more, Nick was kind enough to take a shift. My dad also felt bad, so Nick, Dad, and I spent most of Mother's Day in bed. I ended up with a 102.5 fever. Luckily Mom waited to get hers until later, so she took care of Sam, who never seemed to get sick. I took awhile to recover, not able to really eat until Tuesday night. What a mother's day weekend for me!

But we all got better, and have had a great visit since. Although Mom had to stay home when Sam I went to the zoo to meet my friend Patty. Thanks for meeting us, for lunch, and for walking around with us Patty. Sam had a great time and wanted to see "that lady" again. Of course, she did invite you over for a playdate :)

Sam put this panda on my old Cabbage Patch Horse. I thought it was pretty cute!

With Nana and papa.
Screw child labor laws, kids need to earn their keep! Sam had a great time helping papa.

At the petting zoo.
Sam put her playdoh in this cup and stuck a pretend banana in it and pretended it was juice. She has quite the imagination.

Also, Nick's mother ended up in the hospital on Mother's Day. She had a systemic infection that lead to infection induced kidney stones. She is doing better now, and Sam wanted to send a get well message. Of course, she did not cooperate much and the best one involves her picking her nose at the end. Oh, well. Maybe she needs a better director.

This was an outtake. Please get well Grammy!

And now, Nick and I will head back up to Huntington to pack up the rest of our stuff and put it in storage. Not exactly the ideal vacation for the first time we leave her overnight together. We have only left her for interviews, my appendicitis, and Nick's conferences. But it has always only been one of us. But we figured as hard as it will be, it is better for us to get it done quickly and not expose her to the chaos and stressed parents. She has already sensed the impending changes and was a bit confused. She really wanted to go to the new house right then and not nap in the old one. Luckily she was even okay with us boxing up some of her stuff when we told her she had to get it in boxes in order to keep it. So next week will be rough in so many ways, but hopefully we will be busy enough that it will go quickly. Maybe we can also squeeze in a romantic overnight at some point this summer :)

So her technique may need so work, but her motivation is high. My favorite part is how she says, "Rake, rake, rake!" She does that when she pretends to do ballet as well. "Ballet, ballet, ballet!"
